Unlock Your Musical Potential

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced pianist looking to enhance your skills, my studio provides the perfect environment for you to explore the world of piano music.

I have taught piano lessons in the US since I moved there 25 years ago. After Chicago, Ohio and Atlanta, I've called the Boston area my home for more than 15 years.

I offer three ways of teaching: in my Grand Piano studio which is located in Carlisle, MA where I reside, I can teach online, or come to your house for a small travel fee. I have a "family friendly" studio policy, and you will never have to pay for the lesson you could not make. Given 24 hr notice, I will be able to accommodate you some other day that week.

I usually organize winter or/and end of the school year recitals. I do include in my lessons some music theory (fun writing/drawing homework) and some music history, since I do believe this being very important in general basics of musical education.

About Ginta Bistras

MA (Master of Arts), Doctor of Musical Arts

I was born in Kaunas, Lithuania into a family of professional musicians and started playing piano at the age of five. I received my master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Academy of Music of Lithuania and continued my piano studies, earning a Doctor of Musical Arts degree, with Olga Steinberg, who represents the famous Moscow Conservatory piano school. In between, I completed additional studies at Mozarteum School in Salzburg, Austria. Furthermore, I was invited to serve on the Collaborative Piano Faculty at the Academy of Music of Lithuania. After moving to the United States, I joined the faculty at St. Xavier University of Chicago. In addition to solo appearances, I performed chamber music, specializing in vocal and violin repertoire.

I have played concerts with the Lithuanian Symphony Orchestra and toured as a soloist in Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the former Soviet Union, as well as many cities in the United States. I reside in Carlisle near Boston and continue my concert life as a soloist and a collaborative artist with my colleague musicians.

I recently graduated with the Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Framingham State University and worked as the counselor at several clinics while still maintaining my piano studio. The counseling background helps me find the best individual approach to every student.

A word about my teaching philosophy

Having studied piano with professors of the famous Old Russian and classic Austrian piano schools, I truly believe in the success of detailed and sequenced piano technique and basic music theory introduction. However, throughout my performing and teaching career, I developed a pedagogy style that includes the elements of classic piano school mixed with leading my students to develop their own, personal style. I give my students enough freedom for their interpretation while handling them the tools of professional knowledge. I encourage my students to ask me musical questions,  sometimes we get into short debates or discussions while developing mutual trust and relationship. Independently of my students' commitment level, I try to provide the highest quality of skills, since this is a valuable investment in one's future for further enjoyment and appreciation of music and arts.
